This seemed to work for me. But I disabled the Tools => Manage Addons Microsoft Genuine Adv. restarted the browser, and it seemed to work just fine.

I don't show "Microsoft Genuine Adv" in the list of browser addons period

What I bet pops up all over is third party sites and usenet groups that start hosting the MS updates so they can just be downloaded and run localy without MS update period.

Contrary to the above news item, the Java Script flaw is still not fixed for Windows Update.

I guess "fixed" is MS-speak for "Let's hope nobody tries that other workaround."

Yeah that works too. The funny thing about that is, it's not even a hack. ;D

Again though, it only works for Windows Update.

This whole thing is almost like a parody of MS's security shortcomings.

Ms security shortcomings needs no outside parody. It's doing just fine on it's own :D :shakehead

That's a Firefox thing, and Windows Update only works in Internet Explorer.

Nope. IE has the "Manage Add-Ons" feature. :)

Where? Which version of Internet Explorer?

Click "tools" third from the top is manage add-ons. Below popup blocker and above synchronize
