Converting directories to partitions, is it possible?

edited August 2005 in Science & Tech
Hello everybody,

I have a problem, I am running out of diskspace. Now that is not the real problem though .. I'm actually wanting to reinstall windows xp on my c drive .. it is a 29Gb partition that only right now has about 2 Gb of free space. I do have two other partitions, but they are just about full also. A big portion of the files on my c drive right now are MP3's. I wonder, is there any way to convert this folder to an actual partition so that I can format the rest of the c drive without having to actually backup 15 Gb of mp3's? I looked into partition magic but I don't think there's any way to do that with that program. Anybody have any ideas about this?

All help is welcome, I appreciate it

I think the only way you could do it would be in steps. Create a partition with that free 2GB, moves some of the MP3s over to it, enlarge the 2GB partition up to the new free space from the old one, lather, rinse, repeat.
