I wouldn't go below 512 MB...some of the higher Point WUs are only available with more ram.

I agree. The only exception would be if you were planning to add more RAM in the near future, in which case I'd make sure I got a single stick so you don't risk running out of RAM slots.

Powmax quality has plunged through the basement in the last 2years - Do Not buy - especially for 2/7 use

definitely DONT get a PowPowPowMax PSU. Those things are absolutely terrible. It'll either never work to begin with, die after a few months (as did my old one), or just give you terrible voltages all the time.

This one is only two bucks more than the Powmax. :)

Fatcat, I've got a 400W generic PSU I could make you a deal on. It would be a very reasonable offer - just enough to cover shipping and put a little money in my wallet.

The PSU powered my System 2 (signature below), F@H, 24/7 for at least 18 months.

    If interested, please PM me.

Any possible way of getting a Fry's deal? It would be much cheaper for the Mobo/CPU.

well...got the parts ordered...thanks for the suggestions, and thanks Leo for the offer...I might take you up on it here in a couple weeks, always good to have a spare psu. here's what i got

$31.20 JetWay K8M8MS Socket 754 VIA K8M800 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - OEM
    $63.00 AMD Sempron 64 2600+ Palermo 800MHz FSB Socket 754 Processor Model SDA2600BXBOX - Retail
$22.78 Patriot Signature Series 256MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model PSD256400 - Retail
    $19.99 COOLMAX CA-400 ATX 400W Power Supply - Retail

    $135.97
    $9.99 shipping

    $146.96 total

I'll add another 256mb stick or I might do 2x512mb and give the 256mb stick to SM21 so it has 512mb, I just had to stay under $150 this week budget wise. About another month or so and i'll have a little more spending money.

so...this is my first AMD64 cpu, i sense fun times ahead, and yes she'll be folding :fold: by next weekend

I think you'll like that Patriot RAM. Their budget line isn't great for OC'ing, but it is quite stable and reliable at stock speeds.

Guess you're going to be making the poor old Notable Milestones Forum guy work a little harder.:fold:
