It looks good to me, but I've heard that ASUS makes some crappy AMD boards, so you may want to reconsider that...

stop giving bad info....asus boards are perfectly fine. every motherboard has it's little quirks but almost all a64 motherboards perform the same due to the a64's integrated memory controller. it all comes down to the features that you want. if you want a killer overclocking rig, then try dfi. i you want stability at stock performance with mild overclocking ability try asus or msi.

as far as the rest of you rig, it looks good to me. except i would spend about $100 more for a 19" lcd instead of a 17". also grab a dvd burner. the nec3540a is only about $20 more than the dvd-rom you posted. you will still be under your $1500 limit.

Good advice on the monitor. There's a lot of competition out there now in the 19" class. You can find top-performing 19" TFT flat panels at around the $300 mark. Just keep you eye on Newegg, CompUSA, BestBuy, and similar stores. If you get a 17", you'll be looking to upgrade within a year; might as well get it now.

I wouldnt go with ASUS. I've had several bad experiences with them, and jsut recently i recieved 2 DOA k8v se deluxe's. Id stay away from them and go with MSI, ive had good luck with them
