Okay twice in the past 3 days i've gotten a blue screen that says "Dumping physical memory to disk" then it goes to 100% and it also says to select the repair option in the first window of windows setup. I do so, select the drive, then it tells me to put in an admin pw... and i don't have one.. what do i put.

Also, when i try to start my comp sometimes, i get a black screen with white text telling me that C:Windows/system is missing or something, and once again tells me to do the recover thing... what should i do?

Just hit return on the pw thing the default is blank.

"off the top of my head" it sounds like a memory issue.

Any chance you could try some different memory from a rig that is working?

    Run memtest86 from www.memtest86.com

    Also, read this -- that's what it's for :D

Boost the memory voltage a notch in the BIOS. Chances are, that'll fix your problem.

Its already OCed a bit... and actually i have two 256 sticks in there and only 1 of them are being recognized... they are ECC too... could that be the problem?

You should really put an admin pw... just suggesting it.

Its got to be a memory problem, did you just build this machine or add more memory?

Ok the thing is..., you don't need to repair anything most likely...
If you fix the memory problem it will probably boot into the OS.

Back off the OC to stock. The fact that you have 2 sticks in and it only recognizes one is a red flag that something is wrong with the memory.

Take out both sticks or figure out which one is not being recognized and pull that one out... Then clear the CMOS and try booting back in with just the one good one or just one stick of memory installed. You'll probably have to go into the BIOS and reset everything so you might want to boot into the BIOS write everything down as its set now then proceed with the clear CMOS thing... after that try to boot into the OS...

There may be a slight chance that your config really did get hosed but if its XP as long as your memory is good and the rest of the system is ok it probably will just boot into the OS...

Try that and get back to us...
