Excessive spam

I can't figure out the best forum for this and I don't want to put it in the Pub as that is just the place for pointless spam and nothing in there appears in the New Topics list.

Anyway, the last few days, just short of a week, I have noticed a massive increase in spam. Normally I get a lot but I have SpamAssassin integrated into Exim and I normally only end up getting one piece of spam but lately I have been getting nearly 10 or so a day. SpamAssassin doesn't seem to be blocking them as they don't seem to be running any red-flags for SpamAssassin to pick up on.

Has anyone else noticed anything recently?

I'm afraid, for the time being at least you won't be able to find a solution to your problem. Spammers are getting more and more inventive. Sorry to say, but just put up with it.

My thunderbird box is always free of spam :).

My gmail gets a bit but not much.

    Get a better spam filter ;D .

I don't know - gmail alone catches probably 99.5% of all of the spam I receive. Since I signed up for gmail, I've gotten a total of 5 spam messages in my inbox, 2 of which were last Friday, which puzzles me as to how they managed to sneak through.

I mean, how many ways can you really misspell "Viagra" and have it be a recognizable word?

Before recently, I was getting maybe 1 peice of spam PER WEEK (my email address is posted in a lot of places publicly). The point of this thread wasn't for people to recommend new providers (I AM my own provider, I'm not going to change to someone else) it was a question to see if anyone knows of anything that has changed recently in the world of the net that may have caused this sudden drastic change in spam.

Check out www.rulesemporium.com. We use these rules at work to complement SA default settings and it kills about 80% of our spam.
