I work for the government... and it’s on a "Need to know basis"... and you don't need to know ;D

But really... the group that will be using this do circuit board design and the simulations can take days to run on a dual Xeon and the files are over 4GB.... so they upgraded. It will be running a custom version of Linux. My co-worker (skryking) is our Linux Admin... he's doing the burn in and benchmarking.... Folding will be running for at least a week. :D

Isn't the cpu's 2 ghz per core? 8X1 sounds a bit like a hairdressing server. It should be 4X4 right?

Sorry... 2GHz per core, just checked. And yes, 4 Dual cores... 4x2 (CPU's x Cores)

She's a screamer... All I know is the fans on this thing could be used for a hair dryer ;D

what ever became of that beast?
  • QCHQCH Ancient Guru Chicago Area - USA Icrontian
    edited January 2006
Both of these beasts are STILL having hardware problems. The distributor has been coming out to work on them. The big rig has several memory errors and considering that is takes several days to run a full memtest on 32 GB of RAM, it has been no small feat. The other smaller rig has had a MB, a CPU, and Memory problem... needless to say, never buy a PC from KIO computers.

They both should be up this month, sometime...
