///Withdrawn///For Sale/Trade. Antec TruePower 2.0 550W Power Supply

edited December 2005 in Trading Post
I recently purchased a brand new Antec Truepower 2.0 550W Power Supply and realized it wasn't compatible with my motherboard. I found out I need 1.0 instead of 2.0. Power supply was only used once. Looking to sell for $50-$75 or trade for a 1.0. Thank you

    Welcome to Short-Media. Do you have references like Heatware or Ebay feedback? If not, it's no big deal; you just may have to make concessions to established traders, such as shipping before payment. Nice PSU...I just might make you an offer.

    Yes, I have an account on ebay that has 100% feedback, with over 100 transactions. Username is avs_sakic. Thank you

    That PSU has a detatchable 4 pin that makes it 20 pin for backwards compatability. I really see no reason to switch.

    Would you mind explaining more on how to do that?

    It has the EPS12v connector - the 8-pin plug that new dual core boards are starting to require.

    The last 4 pins on one end of the 24pin plug snap off, take a close look at it.

    Take a look at the PDF of the owner's manual.

    He has an EPS12V format PSU. Yes, the 24-pin ATX can be reduced to 20 pins, but the 8-pin EPS12V connector is one block and won't fit the board's P4 receptacle.

    According to Antec's site it has both the 8 pin and 4 pin...if not there are adaptors to do 4 pin from 8 pin.

    So, basically if I just take off those pins then I am going from a 2.0 to a 1.0 and nothing else, correct?

    If the PSU has a four-pin "P4" connector and if the 24-pin "ATX" connector has a breakaway block at the end to pop of a 4-pin group, then yes, you can use it for standard ATX motherboard.

    I don't need to breakaway anything. Everything connects fine. I just think my Mobo doesn't support 2.0.

    If I am correct, the difference between 1.0 and 2.0 is that 2.0 has the 12v current distributed in two chanels. I've used 1.0 and 2.0 PSUs interchangeable on three year old motherboards with no problems whatsoever. Perhaps there is more to it than that, but if there is, I don't know about it.

    I have gotten the PSU to work now. Don't know why it didn't work before. Thank you all for their interest in the PSU, sorry I couldn't sell it. Thread is closed.
