Just to let you all know - for your own reference, and in case you've ever wondered.... Yes, a USB thumb drive / memory key / whatever you want to call it can definitely survive a trip through the washing machine and dryer.

Found it in the pocket, said uh-oh... Plugged it in, everything was fine - data intact and all. :wtf:

Same thing happened with my SanDisk 256. Gotta love technology.

Just make sure that it is really dry.
I found one with my snow blower. Had to use pliers to get the connector to fit, but all is fine.
There are only two componants in them, they had better be tough.

You beat me to it! ;D

You really do have a propensity for running your electronics through the wash, don't you, Brian?

What brand/model drive was it? I think that their hardiness is quite variable between manufacturers.

I've heard that the SanDisk Cruzer Micro, for example, can survive being run over by a car, but I don't feel like testing the hypothesis.

Didn't you also run a cell phone through the wash a couple years ago?

I've done that - celly survived, but the backlight on it died.

I posted a thread a while back about my grandpa's Sandisk Cruzer he dropped in the street. After a huge rainstorm and many cars running over it, it still worked fine. Those things are amazing :)
