I would like some help please?

Please forgive the little knowledge I have of computers... Here is my problem... for the past almost two weeks.. on an every-other day basis I have been getting trojanhorse viruses... my AVG program finds them and fixes them... I am wondering why I keep getting these? I did a google search and came up with your site to help with the problem... They are usually found in C:\Windows something... this last one was C:\WINDOWS\ms1.exe and it was called Trojan horse downloader.generic.NSA. We have switched to Mozilla Firefox and I usually use thatm but have had to use the internet explorer for a couple of things... is that why I keep getting these viruses? Recently my computer has been running SUPER slow... it shouldn't because I have a really good processor (so I am told) and plenty of memory. The computer is only 2 years old... It says I have Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz....2.41GHz, 512MB of RAM... maybe to some that isn't much but it is just a family computer... I guess I should tell ya that my husband checks out alot of "girly movies" and the rest of us play alot of games....So I am wondering if maybe that is where we are getting these? Also i was told I need to clean the computer of spyware because that is what makes it run slow... how do I do that? I hope I have not rambled to much...
P.S Is there anyway to check the hard drive for deleted things? I was told once that even if they are deleted off the desktop or out of the internet memory that it would still be on the hard drive... is this true? Thanks

Blayzeh02, you've come to the right site, but the wrong subforum. You are in the hardware section, you need to go the Spyware, Virus, and Trojans section. When there, one of our volunteer experts will help you. We are flooded with requests for help, so it may take a bit before someone gets with you, but we will.

EDIT: You don't need to start a new thread. I've moved your post for you.
