Microsoft has demanded that Lindows.com take down a web site that offers to process customer claims from the settlement of a California class-action suit against the software giant.
In a letter sent to the software seller on Friday and reprinted in a Lindows announcement Monday, Microsoft attorney Robert Rosenfeld said that Lindows' MSfreePC site includes false and misleading information and encourages filing of fraudulent claims. The letter also demands that Lindows take down the site by noon PT Monday or face legal action by Microsoft.

Although I wouldn't trust Microsoft farther than I could throw them, I think the Lindows page is misleading. It appears to be a promotional gimmick. Granted, I did not read all the links, I read enough to see that there is truth there, but perhaps not presented in accurate context.

Why? Even considering the security bugs, I think the majority of MS products are pretty good; but MS badly needs competition.

Competition is good. Like Intel and AMD; NVidia and and ATI.
