Proxy Servers....

I really don't know alot about Proxy Servers but I have used them before to connect to and access websites through. Does anyone know of a way to run a Proxy Server on your home computer and connect to it say from school or work so that you can access websites? I want to do this because my school has a firewall and I would like to connect to my computer from school and access websites. Anybody have any ideas?
