I picked up a pc it's a strange thing
It's a Axiom I got it for free and I just can't say no to pcs for free
So far I know it boots up but it got windows 95 on it
But it's got touch screen so that's cool
But it has a 3 gigs harddrive and 1.93 gigs are free so what I want
to know is Can I find out what was on that 1.93 of free space
it has a lot of things that "blank " that this shortcut refers to can not be found
the reason I type blank is There's a few and they all says the same thing
So is there anyway I can restore it to find out what was deleted

What, like Big Mac and Happy Meal sales? This is weird. This sounds like a computer that was on a factory line, machine shop, or something like that.

You would need data recovery software. Windows 95? I have no idea what would work with that.

Your thread title is "system restore or undelet". You can't really restore that system. Windows 95 has no such integral feature. Again, what you may be looking for is data recovery tools.

Why are you interested in the data contents of the hard drive?

It might be easiest just to get a new copy of Win95, or better, Win98 (if it will run it), to reformat and re-install programs. I would imagine most of the programs you mention are available as freeware or alternative freeware is available. Just do an Internet search for "freeware equivalents" or "equivalent + freeware" and you'll probably find whatever you need. On Ebay should be able to find a Win95 or Win98 CD for next to nothing.

You can try recovery software. Judging from the age of that computer and who knows how many times original files have been overwritten, there may not be a whole that can be brought back.

Recovery software, including shareware/trialware has been discussed her at the Forums many times. Do a search here for "recovery" or "recovery software" and you should find something. Sorry, I just don't remember the specifics.

Can you find out if there was a second HDD in there previously, this might be your problem with the short cuts. Also, how important is it that you keep whats on there.......there's nothing like a clean install, especially if you can upgrade the O/S.

We use GetDataBack NTFS/FAT at Best Buy to recover data. I used it very successfully for about 4 years prior to working there.
