3Dmark2001 SE not working for DX9 cards?

Got a shiny new 9700 Pro in and installed it, and wanted to run some benchmarks on it. Downloaded 2001SE and tried to start it, only to get a message saying DirectX 8 isn't installed. Well, it's not lying. I use DX9b like everyone else who knows anything about games, so what's the deal?

Does it refuse to start even? I use DX9 and 3dmark runs fine on my 9700 and my card is the revision 1 which was rumored NOT to have full DX9 support. Remember, 3dmark is based on DX8 but that doesnt mean it wont work with DX9. If it´s not starting, i would reinstall DX9. But uninstall all videodrivers and clean the registry from Ati before, then install DX and finally the drivers.

You need to re-download 3DMark '01. This is a bug, and the latest revision fixed it.

    That worked.. sorta..

I tried a version I have on a CD I have with my junk on it (drivers, common programs, benchmarks, stuff like that) and it's started up.

Got 4666 in 3DMark03 and 12223 in 01. Seems right for my proc/memory/mobo.

    Thanks for the help guys
