help with dual windows booting up

ive just installed a amd 64 3800 dual core proc and formatted and installed windows,but when i installed drivers etc for mainboard i installed 64 windows support, now every time windows boots up u have to choose xp or default.
ive uninstalled the windows support software and run registry mechanic etc but cant get it too just boot normal into xp, how can i stop this any idears or help please chaps
the board is an abit av8 third eye

    I'm a little confused over your opening post. Did you install 64-bit drivers for the motherboard? If you did, remove them and reinstall the ordinary Windows XP drivers. Unless you are running Windows XP 64, you shouldn't install 64-bit drivers for any of the hardware devices unless the drivers set is an all-in-one 32bit and 64bit in one package.

    no when i installed the drivers and software that came with mainboard i installed amd athlon 64 processer driver ever since then it keeps asking me when i boot up which os i wanna choose, but i just want the pc to boot into xp without asking

    ive gone into startup and recovery only option in drop down box is xp,set time to 0 and it still boots up with 2 options

    windows xp professional
    windows(default)

    cant get just to boot into xp pro

    Go to dos and to cd to c:\

    Then edit boot.ini

    remove the operating system you don't want.
