Tex (or anyone else really) have you any experience with the highpoint rocketraid 2320 PCI-E SATA2 card? I have a few questions about it... if not can you recommend a good, fairly cheap SATA card with 8 channel (or more) capacity?

sorry man. I have not used that card. If I was going to pick a sata card with lots of channels I would probably go 3ware to be honest

Highpoint makes good, inexpensive RAID controllers. If you can spring for it, like Tex said, 3Ware controllers are amazing. I was going to get the 2320, but a friend just sold me his unused 3Ware 8506-LP4 for $100. Can't beat that price. :)

And I have owned and used a BUNCH of highpoint controllers.

    Not knocking them but...

If you want that many ports and your data to be secure.... There is only one anwser and its not highpoint!
