ppd increase w/ p1159

These tinkers run really sweet on A64's. I'm sure most of you have gotten them before and noticed but I just think it's worth drawing some attention to.
They are worth 241 points as opposed to the p1152 cousin which is only 239 ...doesn't seem like much but it really is when you compare how much faster they fold. On my system w/ specs in sig they have been averaging around 3:40 per frame as opposed to 3:50 or more for the p1152.
They also fold cooler as well ...everything about these tinkers is positive and if you get them rather than the 239er's you'll notice some ppd increase ...probably as much or more than 20 ppd on a dual core rig.

Just an FYI :csimon:

edit:\\ apparantly there are quite a few 241 pointers:

p1136, p1151, p1155-p1163. Good luck snagging a few of these!

    How do most people have 2 instances of the fahcore running for dual cores? Do they just load it twice and set affinity per core? Is there an option in F@H to have 1 per core running?
  • csimoncsimon Acadiana Icrontian
    edited March 2006
    for 2 cores yes you load 2 instances assigning machineID=1 and machineID=2 to each only. To run on 1 core just run one instance.
  • edited March 2006
    Can you help me loading 2 instances? I tried loading it again but the error message attached explains why I can't. I tried copying the installion directory and loading the exe in the 2nd directory, and tried renaming it; but it gave the same error.

    Well ...you need the no nonsense console version first of all. Next you need to reconfigure the second instance to machineID=2.
    Which version of F@h do you have?
  • edited March 2006
    5.03 graphical user interface. I'll remove and change to console.
  • edited March 2006
    Ok i got two instances running on seperate cores. Isn't something wrong when they both says the same Project, run, clone, gen?
  • csimoncsimon Acadiana Icrontian
    edited March 2006
    Oh no you can run the same project for months.
    You can actually run one gui and one console but not two gui's at a time. Still don't know why.

    As long as you have machineID=1 in one config and machineID=2 in the other you're doing great. Also ...don't forget team#=93!:fold:

    Now ...time for an avatar and a sig!

    Welcome to the team!:clap:

    When configured as a service you never see the console. To turn the client off you just open service.msc. It will run automatically when you reboot or just restart it thru the service.msc. It's way more convenient this way.

    ahhh, a simple reboot would have answered my silly questions. thanks

    I noticed that both instances did not run at boot up. So I had to go into the services and enabled restart on all 3 failed attempts up to 2 days. I noticed when I was launching both manually, that if I try to load the 2nd instance too soon after the first, it will just close itself.

    Open your client.cfg and cutnpaste it to here ...for each instance. So we can have a look at what's going on.

    FAH 1:
    [settings]
    username=skankinred
    team=93
    asknet=no
    bigpackets=yes
    machineid=1

    [http]
    active=no
    host=localhost
    port=8080
    usereg=yes

    FAH2:
    [settings]
    username=skankinred
    team=93
    asknet=no
    bigpackets=yes
    machineid=2

    [http]
    active=no
    host=localhost
    port=8080
    usereg=yes

    If I try to manually start the 2nd instance right after the first, it gives the error attached in the picture. I have to wait about 10 seconds before I can start the second one.

    edit: after looking at this thread user ids should not math!, I found that both my userids were exactly the same. So it sounds like I'm working on the same exact wu and which ever core finishes first will get credit. See attached pic. I'm not sure how to fix this.

    I copied over the code from the sig generator, but it doesn't seem to work when added to my signature, even though if I try to edit my sig, the code shows up. It should be displayed below since the code is there, but instead it's blank.

    That on pertains to two seperate operating systems on two seperate systems. You should have the same user id.

    If the problem persists try this.
    Make a shortcut in each folder for each client and add -configonly ..it should look something like this D:\F@h\F@h1\FAH504-Console.exe -configonly with your own path of course. Reconfigure each instance. I think what's happening is that you may have remnants of the gui cfg.
    After you're done restart each instance or reboot. Try that see if it helps.

    I'm not sure how I can have remmnants of the gui since I uninstalled it and downloaded the console into a new folder. I setup the cfg and it created all the files in the folder. I still have the same problem when deleting all files and setting it up again. Editing the failed attempts in the properties seems to be a work around.

    run configonly and tell it not to run as a service!
  • edited March 2006
    Ok, I removed it from being a service. I had problems editing in worpad but editing in notepad didn't create any problems. Weird...

    Ok I set up HideitX to run with the following string:
    F:\FAH\HideItX.exe -starthide F:\FAH\1\FAH504-Console.exe;-delay 2;-starthide F:\FAH\2\FAHConsole-5.04beta2.exe

    Now if only I could set the affinity parameters as well.

    I ran through this guide on how to secretly and silent install on any computer http://www.overclockers.com.au/folding/fah_installer.htm
    The guide has a few messed up instructions, which is funny since it's the authors guide.

    Now all I have to do is pop in a disk or cd on every computer I see :)

    Please do NOT do that without the owners permission. The last thing in the world we want to see is people to start viewing FAH as malware. :)
