Hey, does anyone here have verizon fios service? Right now I have a 7mb cable connection (i think), but on the 17th we are having fios installed. I dont know the specs of it, but i hear its supposed to be pretty fast. If anyones ever used it, what do you guys think it?

I have never used it, but since it is based of of fiber optic lines i would imagine you could have some pretty fast downlaods with decent uploads.

    Check out more information here

It sounds like a good idea at least

While working for Verizon DSL we talked about how great it would be just to have everyone switched over to FIOS, less problems :)

FIOS not only has great bandwidth, but amazing ping times as well

I have fios! Fiber baby! I had the basic package but than soon after went for the top of the line. It was 5Mb Down and 2Mb Up but I now have 30Mb Down and 5Mb Up... I love the service. the bandwidth and speed never waver...

I think it starts at 39.00 per month here and goes to 116.00 per month if you want the business package, they have 50Mb down and 20Mb up.. But I have heard of higher speeds but the cost is just unreal :) like $1500 per month... if you own a data center I guess the cost is justified.

I pay $59.95 per month it is much faster than Cable and I can download tons of crap on all 9 comps with out slowing in my gaming :) its funny how fast you can DL 40 gigs of data on this stuff :)

Get FIOS!!! If not for yourself, then for all the kids jonesing for more bandwidth.

Oh how I wish FIOS were here in NYC. Until they can get the cost down to where it's feasible to install it to just a few units in an apartment building, it'll never see the light of day here. Sucks because RR couldn't care less about increasing upload & download speeds here. No competition.

Would FIOS be capable of supporting a dedicated gaming server? At the business package?

    I'd believe so.

I support 2 32 man BF2 servers and a 100 man TS server and still can download and play games like no other...

i have good news and bad news......bad news first - I'm only going to be able to use it for like 4-5 months because I'm going to college, the good news is I'll probably have a fast connection at college, so whatever. Either way itl be faster than what i have now.
