    If it's Windows XP, give this article a read and follow it very precisely.

    * Boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console
    * Run "Attrib -H -R -S" on the C:\Boot.ini file
    * Delete the C:\Boot.ini file
    * Run "Bootcfg /Rebuild"
    * Run Fixboot

    Better? :)

    Did the steps in article to repair boot. System still boots but same problem as before - when the desktop backgroung image loads it flips to Welcome screen with profile option Ben (did not have profiles before just straight to desktop).

    Clicking the profile image loads the desktop background then flips back in a loop

    Is there a way of repairing the full start up not just the boot

    This is related to a virus - trojan banco that Panda neutralized then requested a restart - it has not restarted fully since

    Thanks for your help

    Cheers,

    Ben
