If you have a chance to pick up PC Gamer you will see a nice cover with an announcement of C&C 3. This is huge for the RTS market :)

    C&C 3?

Which is that? The C&Cs there were (minux expansions) were C&C, C&C Red Alert, C&C Tiberian Sun, C&C Red Alert 2 and C&C Generals.

    There is no C&C 2 so there couldn't be a C&C 3...

Well there is, I guess they are naming it off the red alert series... RA1 than RA2.. but the title of the game is missing RA so I guess we will have to see what EA says :)

Well after EA bought out Westwood the game took a turn for the worse and became more like other RTSs and lost what C&C had, and now apparently they can't even name them consistantly, so I have very little hope for this.

Read the contract... 300% is guarenteed the other 20% is locked up in clauses. It's written in plain legal-eze... Section 45, Paragraph 35, Part B, subsection 231, Note 23b.
Note 23b - Twenty percent of the agreed bonus salery is contigiant upon the monthly shipment to QCH2002 of any and all new releases from EA Games and subsideraries of EA Games, and any other Game that you may come within 4.25 feet.

C&C hasn't offered anything new since the original Red alert. Since then we've seen revolutionary games pretty much ignored because they don't have that C&C name slapped on the front (Total annihilation anyone? Homeworld?) While every C&C game offers exactly the same gameplay as it's predecessor with slightly prettier graphics and sells bucket loads. C&C exemplifies what's wrong with the game industry today: big franchises sell millions of copies and squeeze the truly novel titles out of the market while the consumer is too lazy to go out and find something different.

C&C is the NHL of the RTS world.... a franchise built on an originally fun and interesting game, now getting by on 10 year old gameplay and nice graphics.

C&C was one of the first true RTS's online. None can contest that. but from what I have heard and seen EA is going to be doing something different with this one. But I guess only time will tell.

When EA took over Westwood they threw it down the pan. Sure the game may "look" nice, but that's not the point.

Oh, if anyones interested in an amazing 3D RTS based on Total Annihilation, look up TA:Spring. It's still in Beta stages but completely playable and it's REALLY worth getting. Always loads of people in the inbuilt game lobby too if that's your forte.

    Back on topic:

I too, am wary of this release. I was rather dissapointed and wanted more from my Generals experience, but found that in order to do so, the purchase of an expansion was necessary.

Eye candy means nothing to me if it doesn't have gameplay behind it, don't repackage Doom 3 under a different title and genre.

    C&C is the first one.

C&C-Tiberian sun is the second one

    this is the third one.

Red alert, RA2 and generals were all set in different universes than the 'main' C&C games, which are set in the so called 'tiberium' universe. This universe features Tiberium and the forces of the GDI and brotherhood of NOD.

I googled it, but most information was either bogus or made up, lots also said that the game is just a myth.

EA has a press release up on their site about C&C3. Myth busted.

IIRC, the images where leaked 2 years ago...the pics that got leaked where the original plans of C&C Generals..but EA canned it and made Generals..last year (IIRC) Mark Skaggs went in a email frenzy that they are making a new CnC after that....EA fired him....now they finally annouced CnC III.

EA didn't fire Skaggs he left the company after he took a leave of absence. And the image that was leaked was a cell phone images from a guy I know "sorry to say I know his Canadian Jack ***"

Note: I have nothing against Canadian’s in general it is just this one jerk who thinks he is a god or something....

Yeah and your right it was about 2 years ago during a BFME1 community summit.. back in 2004... the image was taken off a big screen TV in the employee lounge. EA had a man hunt for the Canadian.. lets just say he wont be going back to EALA again.
