weird disk io problem

Hi all,

Im assuming this is the correct place for this ..

I recently got a new slk900, after i installed it and restarted it seemed to be working great, but (theres always a but)

suddenly my computer is awfully sluggish, its not a throttling problem as temps are in the low 30's (celcius) ... whats strange (which is why im putting it here) is that i now have seemingly constant disk activity ... every now and then it stops and the comp perks up again but then 10 seconds later is starts again ... i checked all the connections etc ... and have run full checks on the disks .. all fine ...

any ideas as to what could be causing this ?

Sounds like something Windows does when it's jacked up. God knows what's wrong with it. The only suggestion I could offer is backing up, formatting and reinstalling.

lol... I wish I could be of more help, but this is a problem that I've never run into before. I'm positive it's just a coincidence (how the hell can swapping heatsinks cause disk problems?) but I don't know why windows would be doing it, so I don't know what else to do...

Do you have the indexing service on by any chance? That might cause it... Other than that, I don't know what to tell you.

allright, i feel stupid ... i should have mentioned that i also got a new tornado to chill the slk ... well ...

imagine the scene .... mondi installs hsf ... fan needs power ... oh.. alright,, ill just 'splice' it into that random connector there ....

rewired the power connectors and bam ... all back to normal ...

lesson for today .. dont underpower your components .
