I'm selling my 2500 + 1 gb corsair xms 3200 + $50 cash for a Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb.

So i'm in the market for some ram and a cpu. I'm scrolling through newegg looking for some ram. I spot some mushkin lvl 2 pc3500. 6-2-2-2.0. I'm pretty set on this stuff. So i go searching for some nice 1700's, 1800's, or 2100's.

I search on excaliber because a few days ago they had some dlt3's for sale on there. But all they had were 1800 dlt3's. Then i go to newegg and look at the reviews for the 1700's and 1800's. I know that for a few months newegg has been selling 1700 tbred a'.s.

I then look at the 1800 retail reviews and the last review is a guy getting a JIXIB that will do 1.53 ghz at 1.1vcore. I'm impressed with that.

Then i go on to cruise through and i spot an xp 1700 mobile processor. I look at the socket. It's socket A and also it says 45W. I've heard of people running mobile cpu's in desktops but i'm not too sure if they are totally compliant with my nf7-s. If so i'd definetly love to get one of these and overclock the hell out of it. What do you guys think it will overclock to? Would it be worth the extra $4 over the 1800? Also what about getting a 2100?

If you could choose between a 1800 dlt3c, 2100, or 1700 mobile which would you choose? I desperately want 2.5 ghz 2.4 is a must.

Final Questions:
Will the 1700+ mobile work in my nf7-s setup?
Which of the processors will overclock best?
Money isn't an issue between the three of these.

Specs of the system:
Nf7-s
512 pc3500 Mushkin lvl 2 6-2-2-2.0
SLK900U
sunon 38cfm fan or Vantec Tornado @ 1/2 rpm or thermaltake smartfan 2

I would choose the DLT3C 1800. The 1800s are fabbed closer to the center of the wafer, and appear to be slightly better than the standard fare AXQ** 2500s.

The 1700M won't overclock, I can't remember precisely why, but it's DESIGNED for low voltage, low-heat applications, it doesn't respond well to an increase in either. Additionally, it doesn't follow desktop steppings, and they're far more rare as far as chips are concerned which means they're not using the better silicon for it.

What the hell's up with you selling everything lately?

    Thanks.

Lost my 9700 np. Needed to sell stuff to buy a 9800 pro. Found a good deal.

    What about 2100 vs 1800?

For what it's worth, my JIUHB DLT3C 1800+ does 2.51GHz (1.93v) with a SLK-900A and a Vantec Tornado 92mm @ full speed. At that speed it dissipates an estimated 138w (according to CPU power) and the SLK-900/Tornado is the only thing I have that can handle it. I tried it with a 60cfm YSTech 92mm and the ABIT's cpu overheating protection kicked in and shut it down before it even got to the welcome screen in XP.

Yeah, that's something else I forgot to mention. Unless you're pushing 80+ CFM, or go water cooling, you won't get 2.5GHz. Ever.
