I usually use Nero to burn my ISO files.... but I am at work and only have 2 black DVD's so I don't anna waist them. How would I burn an ISO image(The Vista x86 ISO) to a DVD without Nero?

    Windows Server 2003 Reskit Tools (12 MB)

    Supported Operating Systems:

    * Windows Server 2003, Windows XP
    * Windows XP 2600
    * Windows XP SP1
    * Windows Server 2003 family (3790)

    Use "dvdburn <drive> <image> [/erase] (for RWs)"

    Haven't used it, but I've downloaded it and waiting for the same ISO you're trying to burn to finish downloading.

    could you explain that command a bit? I need to type in dvdburn then the drive DESTINATION? or the file location?

    Could you give an example, like where "x:\" is the destination and "y:\folder/file.*" is the ISO location? I won't be using any RW's

    Yes, you have it right. For me it would be (ignore the stuff in ( ), they're explanations for you!):

    dvdburn d:\ c:\storage\vista_5384...(removed blahblah)...EN_DVD.iso

    d:\ is my DVD burner
    c:\storage\vista_5384...(removed blahblah)...EN_DVD.iso is the location and file name of the ISO (mine has 1 hr 30 minutes remaining at 400 KB/sec still or I'd give it a try for you)

    I am pretty sure I typed it in correctly, but it gives me an "error 1 opening device \\.\d:\"

    Perhaps try with (or without) the backslash?

    dvdburn d: c:\storage\vista_5384...(removed blahblah)...EN_DVD.iso

    or

    dvdburn d:\ c:\storage\vista_5384...(removed blahblah)...EN_DVD.iso

    Ahh taking out the backslash works!

    But now I get an error burning the ISO :( It prepares the media then stops.

    I used deepburner, and I have Vista 32bit installing now on my laptop.

    BTW this morning I installed and ran Unreal Tourney 2004, Macromedia Studio MX 2004 Pro, and Softimage XSI FDN...

    Unreal played well, but was a tad glitchy, I figured it could be from the graphics drivers I tried installing like 5 times... but didn't work.

    Macromedia Studio seemed to run without a hicup, in fact it loaded much faster than usual. But nothing special.

    Softimage XSI ran. It was glitchy, I had to use my keyboard instead of my mouse to select certain things. But I was able to do my stuff with it.

    I didn't go into anything crazy though, didn't have much time between getting ready for work and getting some grub in my belly. But I have some stuff here I will try with the 32bit edition and see if they work. Naturally I am missing some "DISK 1's" for certain games of mine, dunno where they went so I can't test them until I find them.

    Would this be better burned on CD or DVD?
    I can do either. Just wasn't sure which is better.
