Benchmarks show that the FX5200 outperforms the ATI Radeon 9000 in almost all situations, especially when anti-aliasing is introduced.

Not to mention that the FX5200 supports DX9. :)

    Great idea! :D

Like a new version of Tom's massive video card round up... except Short-Media style :D

Give me a little while to work on it... the platter is kinda full right now with a new article on the Matrox Parhelia Demo and MediaMan's Budget Buster PC. :)

you wouldn't believe how something simple like a performance chart of vid cards can generate traffic.

Well it's good to know I made the right decision when it comes to graphics cards and got the PNY GeForce FX 5200 in lieu of the Radeon 9000. It was cheaper too.

That's for my old IBM. It doesn't have an AGP bus.

You forgot the classic nVidia Riva 128/128ZX, ATi Rage and Mach series, S3 Trio and Virge, and lets not forget the entire Matrox line, including the Parhelia (let's face it, with a name like that, how can you go wrong?)

BTW, anyone checked out the XGI Volari Duo?

It has DX9 support, dual 350MHz GPU's, and the company claims 5k 3DMark2003's.

Hey, I was like 12 years old when the Riva/Rage/Trio/Virge chips were out. Besides, that was a fooking long list, you can't expect me to remember every card.. (Especially the trio and virge which blew huge). The rage was questionable, but shame on me for the Riva.

The entire matrox line is geared towards 2D DCC, so I didn't include it. I also omitted the Volari because we have nothing official.

I can let you have my old Radeon 9000 Pro 128 for $75 Canadian, (That's $1.25 US) Dual monitor ready it comes retail boxed with manual, drivers, cables and DVI adapter. Granted it's no 9800 Pro but It's still a very capable l'il card. I get 9067 3D marks with it. http://service.futuremark.com/servlet/Index?pageid=/orb/projectdetails&projectType=6&projectId=7060567

I wouldn't touch the XGI card (not yet, anyhow) because it's still done by a SiS spinoff, and if you've seen some of my posts on the Volari, you'll know that I'm not a SiS enthusiast, to put it mildly.

    Tech had this to say
Hi everyone, this is my first post on these boards (I just discovered them yesterday) and I think the video card ranking is awesome and I am nominating it for a sticky, perhaps with a topic name change. I am glad that someone actually took the time to create that list and now I can point my comp illiterate friends to it when they ask me if video card a is better than video card b.
