Xtremesystems has a preview of Intel's next generation CPU, the four-in-one Kensfield processor, with 8MB cache, running on the MSI 975X motherboard.
The CPU is clocked at 2.4GHz and overclocks to 3.2GHz on stock voltage. As you might guess, the CPU still has some rough edges and you can expect the final version will be clocked at a higher speed. For those who thought that Conroe was a Fad, then wait for the Kensfield.

hmm. I wonder if this will be like the p4 3.2 Ghz, which was pathetic, took so many clock cylces to move as much data as the amd line of proc. Now if they have got the clock cycles under control, then we may be in business.

Nope. Intel has taken AMD's lead, and their latest generations of chips are all moving towards the high IPC (instructions per cycle)/low power consumption model.

I'm not seeing a preview here... just 2 photos and some shots of "Go"... you'd think he'd have said something.... probably why there aren't any comments, there's nothing to comment on!

EDIT: Ah, ok, found some sort of benches 5 pages in.
