How does one get round forgotton windows log on PASSWORD

Hi , My daughter has changed her windows log in password and cannot remember it even with the password clue.TYPICAL! How does one get round this as she is the only administrator. The O/S is windows XP. Thanks to you if you can help. Thanks for reading if you cannot.POTMAN.     Boot into safe mode and log into the windows administrator account? She's probably not the only admin.

    Just try in Safe Mode, then come right back if that doesn't work. Let's take the easy steps first.

    Cant he use Cain and Abel? Im sure there are easier tools to use than that though., well, wait, C&A has to be installed.

    Prof an I encountered that problem at the 2005 LAN on my computer. Are you using Professional or Home Edition?

    boot into safe mode
    go to control panel
    go to user accounts
    remove the password for whatever your daughter's acct is
    it worked for me like a week ago

    that is if he knows the administrators password, or if the computer is set up like my friends, where the only user is him, and he is the admin.

    When the PC is booting, before the Windows loading screen comes up, press the F8 key on your keyboard. This will open a boot menu, and you can choose "Safe Mode" from the prompts that appear.

    Can you remove the XP passwords using a Linux boot like you can in w2k?

    Safe Mode: shutdown and start or restart computer - when text starts to appear on the black screen, start tapping the F8 key - when you get screen asking you how you wish to enter Windows, select "Start Windows in Safe Mode"
