How to un-expire MS Anti-spyware Beta 1?

edited July 2006 in Science & Tech
I am using MS Anti-spyware beta 1 (because I prefer beta 1 than beta 2), and it says it will expire within a week; I uninstalled and reinstalled the program, but it still says it will expire within a week.:bawling:

Do I need to delete entries for the program in registry after uninstalling the program, not to expire the program?

If so, would anyone please tell me the entries to be deleted?
Also, if you know any other methods not to expire the program, would you please instruct me how to do so?

I would truly appreciate if anyone would help me on this issue.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

It expires because it's only licensed for a certain period of time (microsoft wants you to move onto the next version after that). Removing or bypassing that time restriction would be against the EULA and is therefore something we can't help you with I'm afraid.

Thank you deicist for your quick response!
I decided to install Windows Defender as a substitute for the beta 1, though I dislike the beta 2:range:
The beta 2 tried to delete an original host file (my friend's case) without making a backup of the file when a redirected host was found in the file; she almost lost the original host file!

    Anyway,
I would really appreciate if anyone would introduce me a program to examine a EULA, like EULAlyzer from Javacool Software.

    Thank you very much!

The original is recreated when it's deleted.

To Thrax: Yes, usually host.bak is created when deleting the original, but in her case, it wasn't...... misterious.

Do Thrax and Decist have any recommendation for a program like the EULAlyzer?

    Thank you!

To airbornflght: She told me she has no problem since the incident, but sometimes ewido's real protection is turned off at random time... another mystery.

    Anyway,
Do you have any recommendation for a program like the EULAlyzer?

    Thank you so much!

Her Defender and Ewido's problems are solved! after she uninstalled/reinstalled the programs.

But she told me another problem: when she left clicks Start button, All Programs button then right clicks a program in the "All Programs", a right click menu is not displayed, instead some flash occurs.

I found the possibe reason for her problems: she sometimes clean up registry by using Regscrub XP. I told her to stop cleaning up the registry; but what do you guys think? Also, I would be grateful if you give me any suggestions for her to sort the programs in "All Programs" other than by right clicking and selecting "sort by name".

I would very appreciate if you would assist her through me.

    Thank you for your help!
