It may be conflicting with another program. Try shutting down all the crap down by the clock and see if that makes a difference. You could even try running it in Safe Mode for troubleshooting purposes.

Many programs like that depend on a certain version of Visual Basic to run properly. Whether that's true here is anyones guess.

Reinstalling the program itself is worth a try, too.

thanx, ive tried reinstalling several times, ive had a different version working before, but it ended up not working later on also, same problem. i thought of adaware making it not work, and have shut it down, but it still does the same thing. ill try shutting everything down.

    thanx

What exactly is this program? Maybe we can find one that performs a similar function for you.

I'm having exactly the same problem, Beaverpatrol. I've tried running ALL Media Fixer 6.5 in Safe Mode, with different compatability attributes, shortening files names to less than 8 characters - none work.

I can't get a reply from their help desk via e-mail. Have you had any luck yet?

appears to be a ".. tool that helps you repair media files which can not be played or dragged." ..

    Hi LIN,
It's a tool that 'claims' to be able to recover and repair damaged media files (avi's, mpeg's etc). On the odd occasion it does work, say for only partially downloaded files or corrupt files, it is actually quite good. Problem is, those 'odd occasions' are very few and far between.

    Hi LIN,

Sorry mate, I'm new to this tech forum stuff. I didn't realise that my response was pretty much exactly what you just said.

    Duuh!!

Hi, it's been a few months since the last reply to this thread but it's in version 7.8 and the same problem persist.

I'm experiencing the same difficulties and would like to know if anyone has found anything about it yet.
Why does it suddently and unexpectedly crashes on startup???

(I hope the lack of activity in this thread is a positive thing, meaning that the problem was solved)

    UPDATE
Amazing, it started working. Go figure that one out.
After reinstalling and having the same problem I went to google, ended up here, posted in the thread looking for answers, then tried to run the program again and it worked. Just like that!

What I think happened was that some serials available in the Net must be blacklisted.
