I need advice on what kind of virus protection program I should use?

I need some advice or suggestions on what kind of program I can use to keep away pop-ups and viruses. That would be great if I could get help.

    CounterSpy is Superb against spyware. For antivirus BitDefender or Kapersky are kings.

    I have come to be a big fan of AVG, it works great, and it is free. Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareShooter, SpywareBlaster, and Zone Alarm. Mind you all these are free. I learned and obtained all of them through here. I also stopped using IE because of the issues it has, so I use Firefox now.

    It is definately better. Safety is key...and FF is better in that respect.
