Thermalright ALX800 Heatsink & AquaJoe Watercooling Kit Review

edited October 2003 in Science & Tech
Overclocker.com reviews the new <a href="http://www.overclockers.com/articles845/&quot; target=_blank><b>Thermalright ALX-800 Heatsink</b></a>

The good guys at Thermalright were nice enough to send the ALX-800 for a test spin. This unit is squarely targeted for the performance user. This heatsink is a little different from other Thermalright products in that the fins are aluminum with a copper base; note that the fins are thicker than the usual thin copper plates used on others:

Also on the grill is a waterblock form a new company called The <a href="http://www.overclockers.com/articles850/&quot; target=_blank><b>AquaJoe</b></a>

Another new face on the watercooling scene, AquaJoe, sent me their system to check out. As this is not yet marketed as a kit, I am calling this a preliminary review (no kit pricing available yet). However, if the critical components (waterblock, radiator and waterpump) do not change, final results should not vary significantly from what you see here.

Concerning the ALX 800, I am just not impressed by any heatsink that requires a jet engine of a fan to make it noteworthy. That's just meaningless. I could go slap on my monster Delta fine to either my SLK 900 or Alpha 8045. BUT I won't. What is this - Thermalright having an identity crisis, thinking they are Thermaltake ?
