I'm looking for a good quality heat sink and fan setup for a Socket A / Socket 462 AMD Athlon XP processor. It should be ALL copper, or maybe one of those heat pipe things. I have some Athlon XP chips that need to be overclocked.

None of those aluminum heat sinks with a small piece of copper in the base.

Leave message here or email me at loudmouthtim@hotmail.com .

I have a Thermalright SLK-900 for sale with a manually-adjustable 80mm SmartFan-II on it for $25 shipped. ;) I'll even polish the copper for you. It's cooled an AXP at 2.4GHz.

I should mention that I might need the cooler to be mounted to the plastic tabs on the CPU socket, not the 4 holes that go through the motherboard. I have an Asrock K7VM3 coming from eBay, and I might be getting a Chaintech 7NIL1 from someone on here.

Based on my research, only the Chaintech has the 4 mounting holes, but it also supposedly doesn't have many overclocking options, so I'm not sure about getting that one yet.

The Asrock doesn't have the 4 holes, but is a better overclocker, I think.

But I'll keep the 2 coolers offered to me in this thread so far in mind, I may have a use for one or both coming up.

I doubt you'll find a tab-mounted heatsink suitable for overclocking. I have no knowledge of such. Perhaps someone else here does. Hope you find what you need.

The Thermalright SLK-900A mounts to the socket. It was latter replaced by the SLK-947U which mounted to the motherboard. Exact same heatsink. I'd sell mine buts currently cooling a mobile 2400+
