    Better than messing with the bridges is to get a conductive pen and connect these 2 on the back of the board.

    Oh no you don't (ok, so you already did... you know what I mean :D)

    I'm working on mounting one of those Ajigo Aluminum/Copper heatsinks (retail HSF for AXP2200+ and better) on the new refurbished 9700 Pro I got from newegg this week (upgrade for the dually, and it'll hold me over while I RMA the first 9700 Pro...). The new one is a later part, judging by the improved mounting of the heatspreader on the back of the card. The old one did ~390MHz with a Zalman ZM80A-HP and a 120mm fan. This one will have the 120mm fan, but the gpu HSF will be the aforementioned Ajigo unit, with a 40cfm Delta. I just have to figure out how I want to go about getting around the shim on the chip first...

    You may have one the battle, but you WILL loose the war. ;D;D

    This is true... I tried pushing my card and cpu past 2.39 and 414/380 and plenty of artifacting and instability ensued. I lose, unless i get a nice watercooling, but I guess that would go under a different category. Since we're fighting it out for the king of air.

    Dammit!

    The 2K install i made is borked (got a few errors during install, but didnt think they where that bad) so i gotta redo it. But i can tell you one thing...at 250 fsb, 3dmark 2001 is flying. :D
    Dragothic low peaked at 425 fps.

    Dogsoldier,

    I hate to say it but with that system you have, the score is pretty low. I´m gonna beat that with a gigahertz less with my $50 thorton. Game on!

    Win 2K, SP 2, DirectX8.1, Omega 3.5 or Cat 3.7.

    What i do is to install the omega´s and try them out, and replace them with 3.7 for comparison. Even if you uninstall the omega´s, the clocker thing stays in the control panel.

    Is DirectX 9.1 out?

    Hmm... what kind of jump do you normally see between XP Pro and DX9 vs. 2k SP2 and DX8.1? 'Cause I've been benchmarking under xp... that 18,383? That was under XP Pro with DX9 and the Cat 3.4s or 3.5s...

    With a proper install and a little tweaked, i´d say as much as 1000-1500 points. 2K can take more overclocking before it freezes or reboots as well.For example, i can bench at 250 fsb on 2K but not 245 on Xp. 2K is more tolerant on raw cpu speed as well.

    :wtf::eek2::eek3:

    I'll have to try it to be sure obviously, but if it manages to boost my score by 1250 points, that'd be 19633... and that was with the old radeon. I haven't OCed the new 9700 yet, but I have a feeling it'll do better, since it's a newer revision (the heatspreader on the back has little feet and is firmly affixed, vs. the last one, which wasn't) and has an Ajigo ALCU 60mm AMD retail HSF on it instead of the Zalman ZM80A-HP on the old one...

    Eeeeeexcellent. :D

    Altho I do have to admit that the Celeron isn't bad. Say what you will about it (a lot of people here will disagree with me) but I like the P3 and P3-based (<=1.4GHz) Celerons. They run cool, and they're pretty fast for their clockspeed. In fact, my "print server" (1.3GHz Celeron) is my primary desktop because it's quiet, always on, and does everything except gaming just fine... and it's held back by the video card more than anything else (ATi Rage 128 32MB, scores ~1500 in 3DMark 01 in a 1.4GHz Athlon)

    NO! NO! NO! BAD RADEON 9700! BAD! BAD! BAD!
    :mad::rant::mad:

    Stupid new 9700 Pro maxes out at 370-380 core, vs. 390 for the old (dead) one.
