I have a custom built computer that never had problems till now.

I leave it on over night to finish some downloads. I leave it on the logon screen, but when I do, I realize it restarted by itself.

Today it keep hitting scandisk saying an unspecified error corrupted while it was scanning my filepaging part of the disk I partitioned (I know this cause its FAT32, while my real harddrives are all NTFS (spelling?))

To my question is do you think its restarting cause its might be overheating?

Its a MicroATX, so everything is really packed in there tight. any suggestions on how to add some cooling?

sounds like a software/hard drive issue, winsows normally restarts itself when it encounters an fatal error, instead of showing the BSOD.

try this: right click my computer and go to properties. coohse the advanced tab and go to startup and rtecovery. under system failure UNCHECK automaticly restart. that should force it to display the BSOD next time it happns giving us more info as to what its doing,

alternitavly, if you right clck my computer and choose manage under event viewer you might be able to find some errors that will give you some insight, it will be under application of system.

Ya, just read a few websites and checked all that, red flags but no real info on what caused it.

I did a scandisk on my C: drive (window's parition), and it seems to be running find now,

except now I can't seem to be able to use the "Find" feature in windows.......

You've had some file damage somewhere. You may need to do a Windows XP "repair installation." You know what I mean by that, right?

    I'm hoping its not a complete re-install?

I did scandisk on my Windows parition (did bother before cause I saw scandisk at every boot, but it was doing every drive but my OS one.)

I ran a repair program for IE, I posted it on my other thread yesterday, and it works fine now.

I hope nothing else is damaged.
