Upgraded from 98 2000 - only boots in afe mode

edited October 2006 in Hardware
This is a rather old computer: Pentium III ~500 mhz, 384 mb RAM, integrated ATI graphics. We just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. The first boot up worked fine but when I restarted it, Windows would not boot. It would get to right before I would normally see my desktop (it shows a blank background) and then it restarts. It keeps on going through this cycle unless I use safe mode (which I am in right now). Any help would be appreciated. :)

Go into Device Manager in Safe Mode and uninstall everything that you possibly can. Reboot and see if Windows can get the hardware set up properly when given a second chance. Then see if your luck improves. :)
