Artifact Question

Howdy,
Just out of curiosity, are different types of artifacts related to a specific component being overclocked too high? For example, misplaced and distorted polys are caused by excessive GPU overclocking, OC'd ram causes dots etc.
TIA for the replies

Your symptoms sound a bit like the behaviour my first R9700 exhibited.
    It had faulty memory.
In the Pipedream demo it looked like you were on LSD. :eek3:

Now I have GPU heat problems, my fan died.
It looks wierd in games and applications and then there are streaks on the desktop. (After you exit the game/app.)

Have a look in my earlier thread regarding artifacts.
I have trid to describe them.

Wug, dots actually generally appear when the video ram is clocked too high. Bad system ram causes general instability. if you're dropping entire textures and polys and stuff, it's likely the gpu. dots is probably video ram.
