Just gave it a more thorough second reading and would like to say that I am even more impressed than I was the first time around.

People who follow this advice will be able to relax and enjoy their computer, rather than spend days or weeks trying to undo the damage caused by these malicious programs.

    Excellent work.

I have a refresh of this article coming very soon. It'll include smitfraud and vundo fixers as a standard procedure, and I'm going to see if people can have access to Trend Micro Anti-Spyware and Spyware Doctor for free trials, and add those as well. I'm also going to bundle Silentrunners in with the HJT stage, and direct people to post SR+HJT logs.

I've just seen it now, and I agree whole-heartedly that it's very well-written and comprehensive.

Maybe you can change the mention of ewido to AVG Anti-spyware in your next revision.

I sure will. :) I've been slowly revising this article over the last week, and it should be ready to go again pretty soon.

Just came across your article in my "Kapersky" search. Wanted to make sure I had the right stuff. It was a great read. However, it was written nearly four years ago, From sad personal experience this geek world has done somersaults in four years. Is there an updated article?

(Btw, years ago I used NOD32. Great utility. Went to Norton and just soured on Symantec.)
