Windows iTunes reaches 1 million downloads

edited October 2003 in Science & Tech
Apple announced yesterday that 1 million copies of its new iTunes software for Windows (released last Thursday), have now been downloaded. It has also been reported that more than 1 million actual songs have been sold as well, a significant increase over that of the company's typical sales rates.

[blockquote]"We're off to a great start, and our competition isn't even out of the starting gates yet," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in a statement. [/blockquote]

Well, I suppose I'll give it a try. But if I like it (which I won't) it's all your fault RWB... but you don't have to worry, 'cause it's an apple product, which means that I won't like it. ;D

I took a look at it and decided to stay with Music Match.

personally musicmatch has always been a crappy program. I remember when I had it with an older creative MP3 player and it never worked right. iTunes is great, especially since I can stream music off of other peoples computers right in the program, and the store is not bad at all, I had to try it. Definitly the best program to transfer files to your iPod.

I had to the same opinion of the older version of MM.
Didn't work right, and I didn't like it at all.
    This version seems better.

What's wrong with WMP? I haven't installed apple's sw yet, but I've never had a problem with WMP. In fact, I like WMP 8 and 9.

    Nothing wrong with WMP.

People are going to Itunes and MusicMatch because of the online music stores they have, afaik.

I never ever "got" WMP's interface.. I used it before iTunes, but I didn't really like it.

Prime, I dunno... maybe there's just some part of me that subconsciously likes Microsoft or something. I mean, IE is the best browser around, IMO, I like WMP, I like Windows, Office is the best office suite in existince IMO, Frontpage is almost as good as Dreamweaver, etc.

So I dunno... maybe I just have some subconscious affinity for Microsoft products.

I personaly prefer WinAmps' interface, but I re-installed Itunes and will give it another look.

    BDR is definately still undecided.

I like WMP for movies. Its codec support is very fine, as is the video rendering quality.

Otherwise, I think it's overdone for music, and I don't like its playlist control.

    Otherwise. <3 microsoft.

Best browser. Best office suite. Highest security rating for consumer OSes from the largest OS auditing firm in the world. Wonderful server platform (2K3). Incredibly good proxy (ISA). Etc.

Anyway, I hate WMP8 and 9, I always use 6, no crap and alot faster.

Ok, installed it....... and I dont see anything special about it.
Its a player with a playlist. Wow.
When I buy music, I buy it on CD from cheap online stores, not pre-encoded stuff like that.

It also didn't seem to understand the concept of "DONT ASSOCIATE WITH ANY AUDIO OR VIDEO FILE TYPES" as it has associated itself with every single AV type.

    >> Uninstall.
