Very Poor Performance - Slow Down

My computer has been extremely slow. I have adaware and spybot, McAfee firewall and virus. I have done all recommended things I could find and just cannot seem to fix the problem. Below is my hijackthis log:

I hope you can help me solve this problem. It is driving me nuts. It is as slow as my first PC back in '85. Hmmm, did I just give away my age? HA. Thanks, Janet Lyn

Before we move this thread over to the Spyware, Virus, and Trojans Discussion (SVT Forum), a request:

Perhaps you have many programs running in the background that are eating memory resources. Frankly, I knew that Norton and McAfee ate a lot of resources, but WOW, you must have 20 McAfee entries in your log. Well anyway, would you please perform a ctr-alt-del and post what it shows under the Processes tab.

Thank you for your help Leonardo.

As requested, the processes in task manager (CPU numbers kept changing so I did not type those in):
    alg.exe
    ati2evxx.exe
    ati2evxx.exe (in there twice)
    blvdnews.exe
    csrss.exe
    ctfmon.exe
    emproxy.exe
    explorer.exe
    GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe
    HWAPI.exe
    IEXPLORE.EXE
    Isass.exe
    LSSrvc.exe
    mcagent.exe
    mclogsrv.exe
    McNASvc.exe
    mcods.exe
    mcpromgr.exe
    Mcshield.exe
    mcsysmon.exe
    mctskshd.exe
    mcupdmgr.exe
    mcupdui.exe
    mcusmrgr.exe
    mdm.exe
    MpfSrv.exe
    msimn.exe
    MsMpEng.exe
    msnmsgr.exe
    MSOFFICE.EXE
    RedirSvc.exe
    sdhelp.exe
    service.exe
    SiteAdv.exe
    smss.exe
    spoolsv.exe
    svchost.exe (listed 5 times total)
    swdoctor.exe
    System
    System Idple Process
    tasmgr.exe
    wdfmgr.exe
    winlogon.exe

I found other threads and did as they suggested, cleaning out temp files/folders, cleaning cache, etc. I did just have some problems with McAfee and had to unload and reinstall just recently, but was already having problems before that.

I run Spybot, Adaware, Registry Mechanic, Bug Doctor, Registry Patrol, and swsdoctor on a regular basis.

I appreciate your help, Janet Lyn

Janet, do you know how to do a "screen shot?" The reason I ask is because we'd also like to see how much resources those background applications are demanding. I'll post a picture and you can see what I'm talking about. The two columns that are under the circled items in my picture show the CPU (processor) and memory (RAM) resources that are being used. It may very well be that your system is infested with malware of some type, but we should also look at other applications. I'll be blunt - Norton and McAfee security programs can be horrible resource hogs.

I downloaded a program called screen shot and took a "picture" of my screen, but I must really be stupid tonight, because I cannot for the life of me actually figure out how to take the jpeg off the desktop and make it a picture for you to see. Sorry, I tried. How please? JL

If you already have the .jpg file:

    - on the forum page, select New Reply
    - below the text box will be another box, "Manage Attachments"
    - click on the little bar
    - then you will be able to browse to the folder where you stored the image and upload it to Short-Media

Don't worry about your skill or experience levels. Well range from rank beginners to professionals here at Short-Media, and we try to respect every member.

Duh. Maybe if I would learn to READ. Thanks, JL

Thanks, Janet. I don't see a big resources problem there. Your original hunch about malware may very well be correct. I'm moving your thread to "SVT." Please be patient, as we have many people stopping in at the site for help. We've only so many volunteers to work the SVT sub-forum. Good luck to you.

Thank you. Although I will admit between the time I last talked to you (before the task manager pictures) and now I went into McAfee and ran some system cleanups through McAfee and it wasn't near as slow. Still not up to speed but better. Will wait to hear from the next forum. Thanks again, JL
