I believe they are supposed to be officially released within a matter of 1-2 weeks. It should be a hard launch from what I understand--with high prices initially, I'm sure.
Thanks for the excellent selection of links.
I am drooling while browsing the nvnews thread, and can't decide whether to go for the GTS or the GTX?
Guess it comes down to the price and availability.
The worst thing is that I have to wait, it is unbearable. :bawling:
Water Cooling will be an option with the first batch, but will not be a shipping option... The cards run very cool and very quite and push some massive pixels. I have heard there will be water cooled versions, but not at launch as far as I know.
I love the fact these cards look like they are worth what you pay for them.

You sound like you're speaking from personal expirence....?
I plan on waiting for these cards to be released, buying a further discounted EVGA 7600GT to replace my dearly departed 6800GT, and putting that twords the G80 refresh part coming this spring using EVGA's step-up program.
Hrm... it's tempting, but my 6600GT and X700 are actually doing just fine.
but then again I could do even more fine with that beast..... NO I MUST NOT!
heheh yea im like...to upgrade now or wait..MmmMm
the problem is
1- U need vista for DX10 (im prob gonna wait for a while to get it)
2- No DX10 Games yet
3- No Competition; i really want to see what ATI has up there sleve there saying their DX10 card will be the equivalence of when they came out with the 9700 *first DX9 Card
They were telling porkies. The 'L' stands for Longhorn.
Ahh this is bull****! So DX9L is just DX9 for Vista that will run DX9 games faster than emulation in DX10? LAME! I am switching to Linux... got Ubuntu already installed anyways lol.

I heard that you'll b able to run DX10 games through an emulator in linux anyway, it's called WINE, I think.....?
This weekend has seen the emergence of rumors that DirectX 10 capabilities will be available for Windows XP under a special "secret" new version of DirectX called "DirectX 9.0L".
Because the paragraph following what you just quoted goes like this:
"Allow me to pull out the inordinately-large-hammer-of-truth on that one and bang out some pretty clear messages:
- Absolutely not.
- Definitely not.
- No f'n way."
Also:
"DirectX 9.0Ex is a Windows Vista only feature. In a nutshell, it is DirectX 9.0c, with some modifications to work smoothly with the new driver characteristics of Windows Vista, which is significantly different at the graphics level than Windows XP."
Comments
I have just bought the other parts for my new rig (excluding a PSU as of yet, the price went up quite a bit, during the last week)
Anyone know the pricing on the GTS models?
I am not gonna get a GTX, to my knowledge it ships ready for water cooling, that is a bit too extreme.
There isn't much fun in using a new A64 X2 system with an old PCI GFX.
I see.
My info about the watercooling came from this article, but it is probably outdated or incorrect.

Isn't DX9L just for running DX9 on Vista?
Yes it is. Instead of DX10.
No Comment....
Umm that's what they said... it'll allow us to run DX10 games on XP.

Not according to this dude.
How is that not what I said?
