Nothing Works but SafeMode

Hello all. I tell you, this has been quite the learning lesson for me. From now on I will protect, protect, protect my computer because right now she really hates me.

Ok, I need help.

No stories, just right to the point.

Ok, I decided to reboot, my system was lagging.
Upon reboot, system got "stuck" while initializing explorer, but task manager fuctioned. 45 seconds later.... background was changed, quick launch toolbar was altered and my wireless connection did not restart.

Checked system devices.... NOTHING
I mean nothing, it displayed a blank screen. Well, that can't be good.

Ok, so, I thought run the anti-virus stuff and try and fix it. So, I ran the following: (which was previously installed)

Ewido Anti-malware
Ad-Aware SE Personal
HijackThis

Went through all necessary steps, found like 300 something infections.... whatever...
Then I found a Panda virus scan on my computer, tried to install it. NOT

She said "The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact ....for assistance."

Tried to download my data files to a CD. I wanted to try and save something....She didn't let me.

After I ran Hijackthis... I noticed that my explorer would periodicly "reboot" itsself... if that is possible. Current window I was in was not affected, but background would blank out and then reload itself.

Rebooted once again..."mistake"

I sat and watched the Dell screen come up with the white speed bar under it. The bar filled up, but nothing happened. It took maybe 20-30 seconds to finally proceed. Wrong logon error came up.. hit enter.. the XP user screen came up... picked "ME" with admin priv.... and she denied me saying:

"A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Error code: 0x80004005."

Be it wrong or right... I searched the world over to try and fix it myself... So, the following tasks were done by me, "Mr. Amature" thinking I could fix it.

1. In safe mode: on CMD Prompt (using Recovery from CD)
Renamed the following files to .old
- Wpa.dbl to Wpa.old
- Licdll.dll to Licdll.old
- Regwizc.dll to Regwizc.old
- Licwmi.dll to Licwmi.old
- Pidgen.dll to Pidgen.old
- Wpabaln.exe to Wpabaln.old
Used an i386 file off a Dell CD to download the original file.
Did an EXPAND command to licwmi.dll, regwizc.dll, licdll.dll, wpabaln.exe
Did COPY command to pidgen.dll

System Reboot.... Nothing different

2. Installed a Recovery Console to computer

Re-Ran HijackThis.... and resulted in the following LOG...

firstrun.txt

Also copied the unistalled list

uninstall_list.txt

3. Did a system sweep with VUNDOFIX.EXE

Ok, I think thats it.

Any help in resolving this matter is greatly and severly appreciated.
Thanks.

Zack

Yup, big problems. I'm moving your thread to the Spyware, Virus, and Trojans help forum. Please be patient. You are in good with many others seeking help.

Moderator bump. Hey, Spyware Gurus, this thread looked more like malware to me than a corrupted OS. Would someone please take a look when you get a chance? Thank you.

Zachoray, could you post a new HijackThis log please. Also, is there any change in your situation? Can you boot into Normal Mode?

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I foolishly allowed a friend to "help me" out. He made a copy of his Windows XP Pro Resource CD and proceeded to "update missing or invalid files." As luck would have it, an error near the end of this set up, informed us that a file was missing from his CD and set up could no longer continue. So, as I sit here typing, my computer is now in a continuous loop of trying to enter set-up and failure, then reboot.
I tried to get into 'Safe Mode' and was unsuccessful, stating that 'Safe Mode' cannot be accessed during set up. It appears to me that the damage is done and is irreversible. Looks as though I will lose it all.

    Thanks,

    Zack

Looks as though I can get into my Recovery Console, and it allows me to use the command prompt. But of course I have no freakin idea what to do with it...lol
I think what may have happened was his disc had files for XP Home, and I am running XP Pro... maybe?? Can anything be done by utilizing the Recovery Console..???

Zac, sorry we couldn't achieve the most favorable results for the problem. If you are seeking Recovery Console guidance, I am not the best person for that. Please open a new thread in the Windows forum describing the problem, picking up where this thread ends. It needs to be a new thread because this thread may largely be ignored by the Windows experts who may not be interested in the recent malware topics.

Very well. Thank you. Sorry, looks like it started out a virus problem but resulted in now a windows problem...lol
I quess if the other forum can get me back on my feet, I may be back.
    Thanks,

    Zack

Again, Leo and Trogan thank you both.
