Help with Windows Live Messenger and Outlook 2003

Ok, for some reason I think my two problems are related, that's why I am making one thread for them.

When I try to sign on WLM it says signing on and keeps signing on forever and won't finally sign on. I get no error or anything.

In Outtlook 2003 when I send/recieve with my hotmail account (the account that I use for WLM), it gives me the 0x800cccf4 error. My Gmail account send/recieves just fine.
I have googled both errors and haven't really found anything helpful. I was hoping someone here has had the same problem before and might be able to help me.

    Yes, It is free. And it has always worked with outlook.

    before we go any further i would like to let you know microsoft has cut support for free hotmail to outlook integration.

    take this valid link here: and see for yourself.

    it clearly states:

    "Notes

    * Support for MSN and MSN Hotmail is not available in Outlook 2000 or earlier.
    * Free MSN Hotmail accounts cannot be used with Outlook."

    I hope that clears it up.

    The thing is, It used to work until a week ago. Even after they made that post, it worked....

    OK what about my Windows Live messenger problem then? It just will never sign in. It says "signing in" forever, and never does nor does it give me any kind of error message..

    Thing is i believe that your outlook account stopped working once the fixes took effect. i really have no idea. a similar buddy of mine has his working even past the time where they disabled the free hotmail pop3 integration until recently it was the same error as the one you were reporting.

    as of windows live messenger, uninstall your current program download the newest version and let it rip.

    try that out as i hope it helps.

    I've tried that, but I'll try it once again ;) Yeah that makes me mad about the Outlook....It has worked for years and now...

    Actually I uninstalled it... Waited like 3 days and a few restarts, and then I installed 8.1 beta...and it works fine. Oh and when I uninstalled MS Outlook worked too. It's all good now! I knew they were related! Thanks for all the help/suggestions though!!
