is this good or bad?

umwhatsgoingon.JPG

from my research, gromacs are supposed to be fast. i don't think this is anywhere near that. this is a real screenshot.

someone tell me that what i got is a good thing...

Looks like it hasn't completed a frame yet. Once it completes one, perhaps it'll change?

Graphical client will be slower than the console, regardless of what core you have.

in the fahlog.txt ...does it say that optimizations are initialized? If not that would cause that sucker to be butt slow.

according to this, they appear to be on. The graphical client is slower? Than what? If theres a way to make it faster.....i looked around and i believe i should download firedaemon and the no nonsense client. is this true?

are there any other optimizations to be implemented apart from that. ALSO, can i switch (uninstall) from the graphical to no nonsense without losing my current work?

You seem to be ok there.
What cpu are you using and what is the current frequency?

According to this you haven't even completed your first frame yet. You can't get an accurate frame rate until one is completed and then the accuracy isn't so good. The graphical client is ok but the no-nonsense client is easier to troubleshoot IMO.

So ...you're not stupid you're just uninformed! ;D

The graphical client takes a few frame's to learn how fast it will complete, let it do at least 5 before panic set's in.

exactly. And if you have something else using up processes and only allowing 50% cpu to the client then the report will be half-fass.

In EMIII for example ...the report will estimate frame time gauged by the last frame completed. If none have completed then it just gives some erroneous amount or a closest guess based on some info. If the last frame takes 30 minutes then that is what the estimated time will be for the next frame.

yeah the n00bn355 will take some time to settle out with the folding thing. so i'll i'll migrate to firedaemon+no nonsense clients once i get my real folding rig going. which will be a AthlonXP-M 2400+

To answer your question i'm on an AthlonXP-M Barton 2600+, OC'd to 2647MHz before i get my 2400+ folding rig in.

    isiea,
I am folding on a bunch of socket A machines. They aren't fast, but they get the job done. Let it run overnight with out any other CPU demand and then check your progress.

firedaemon+no nonsense clients ...you shouldn't need both just configure it as a service or am I missing the point?

Unlucky that you picked up a p2124_lamda_5way_melt, you could be looking at a frame time of about 1.5-2 hours.

The GUI client is only slower if you open it up, then it takes CPU time to draw all the pictures instead of doing work. Minimized the GUI and console clients are the same in terms of speed.

thanks all for your help. 6 days later i finished the 2124 protein. i relocated the computer, so it was down for awhile, but after some tweaks it appears i'm going to need it because i just got the 2125 protein to do as well....
