    Get a Lite-On. Fast & cheap. $43 for a 52x24x52 at Newegg.

Sure, I just got my lite-on in yesterday. I can't wait to boot that sucker up and start burning some cd's I'm in need of some new cd's. I have heard few horror stories on lite-on's and a lot of good news.

ignore the loud spin-up noise characteristics of lite-on's ... your cd's are fine

    Get this:
    http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduct.asp?description=27-106-185&depa=1

I just bought it myself from a cheaper less reliable website but im willing to waste the time returning it if i get the wrong product.. so i'd just go with newegg.

The reviews i've read say that this is an AMAZING drive, it will copy the newest very of Securom, it has support for Mount Rainier, and has buffer underrun tech.

Heres the review if you want it: http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/99/1

I got a Liteon from newegg :D I am most pleased but I had to flash the firmware cause it was already outdated. But be careful that you don't have another optical drive on the IDE channel or is it in the whole 'puter?

Best Buys has a 52X burner on sale for $19.99 (if you don't mind waiting for the rebate).

My dad got one Sunday, I'm going to see him and install it in a couple of days.

Sorry, can't remember the brand (never heard of it), but for 20 bucks how far wrong can you go? A 50 pack of blanks will cost that much - unless you get the Best Buys deal they have right now where you pay $2.99 after rebate.

    That's right: $26 = 52X burner + 100 blank CD's.

    (Did I mention the 80GB 8MB Maxtor for $60 after rebate?):D
