Ok here it is I had my son put XP Pro on his pc
and it wants him to register it so I said go ahead
well nope my numbers won't work and my other son
gave him his numbers for XP Pro and it won't take them.
So what's up?
If this can't be fixed without buying XP Pro again I'm
going to have him put XP Home on it cause I have
that OS too and no pc is using the numbers for it so
it should let him register it.
But, I went to Orlando to put XP Pro on it and don't
really want to go down again till Christmas and well
he have 10 more days to register it or I don't know
what will happen never had this problem before.
So what will happen if he don't register it?

If he doesn't register it, I believe it will lock him out. No data will be lost, but the operating system will be inoperable.

    Well ok
I had him burn all that he has so far on his pc
But any ideas why it won't take the numbers
    for XP Pro?
Will he have to fdisk the harddrive( or will I should I say)
Or can he just put XP Home in it and install it?

I'm assuming that the key is NOT being used on another machine and it is a legit key, you might have to call the MS activation number and register it that way.

I've upgraded my hardware enough it's almost habit with me.

I believe the retail version (and single OEM) has to have the installation CD that goes with the key. He will have to find the key that goes with the CD or use a CD that has one.

Erm, these versions usually come with a Microsoft laser-art tag that identifies the product- might one be on the machine?

I used my other son windows cd and tried his key first it didn't work than I tried my key and nope.
Now for running the same windows OS from the same cd on more than on pc I have two running right now with the same key.
No his pc is like home made case from one place and Motherboard somewhere else and so on kinda like Frankenstein
