Microsoft <http://www.slickdeals.net/?pno=3308&lno=1> has their Action Pack Bundle for $299. Apply code MHQ062 to take $200 off. These are full versions with no time bombs, no manual, no box and not for resale.

The bundle includes : XP Pro, 2k3 Server, 2k Advanced Server, Office XP, MS SQL etc..

For the smalltime user who wants to be legal, or just have all this stuff at hand...wow, heck of a deal.

The price on their website shows the $299 price you mentioned. Does the $200 come off of that?

So is it $99 with the code?

    I can't swing $299, but I'll go out and roll a few drunks if it's $99.:D

As far as renewing the subscription, does that mean that the software is time/date limited?

Profdlp asks a good question. Does the license on this stuff last forever, or will it expire after XXX days/years? If it's a limited time license, not so great a deal. Anyone know for sure???
  • CycloniteCyclonite Tampa, Florida Icrontian
    edited June 2003
That's what I was saying. The serial numbers they supply you with will expire at the end of your subscription period: exactly a year from purchase date. :banghead:
  • edited June 2003
So, think of it as 100 per year for a legit copy of windows (WS and Server) and office. Next year will probably be newer versions of everything anyway.

    /me takes another claritin

    From Slickdeals post
Microsoft has their Action Pack Bundle for $299. Apply code MHQ062 to take $200 off. These are full versions with no time bombs, no manual, no box and not for resale.

The bundle includes : XP Pro, 2k3 Server, 2k Advanced Server, Office XP, MS SQL etc..

Update: It is a non time bombed version, but you are legally obligated to fully uninstall & delete the software after a year.

It's still illegal: The action pack is for partners only and is labeled NFD (NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION) - meaning this is "greymarket" software. Yes, you'll pay for it, yes it will work, yes it's only $99, but that doesn't make you a legit owner. So, if SlickDeals has several copies of this to sell, they are breaking the license agreement which invalidates the legality of the software. Don't believe me? Buy one, call Microsoft and tell them where you got, who you are, and what it is, and see what they say.

    Prime,

The link takes you into MS's site. You order directly from MS.

Okay, that's true, but you're still violating the license agreement if you are not a partner. Read the discussion on slickdeals. It pretty much covers what I was saying.

Well, I AM a reseller, so I'm legit. Who knows. For $99 I'd like to see what goes on. Seems fine by me.

If you build and/or repair computers you probably qualify.

One thought though, if M$ offered this subscription yearly, I would go for it.

Weren't they testing something like this (a subscription service) in Aus & NZ last year?
  • CycloniteCyclonite Tampa, Florida Icrontian
    edited June 2003
It IS yearly. It's just not necessarily $99 yearly. Heh...
  • Omega65Omega65 Philadelphia, Pa
    edited June 2003
Actually I think it is. They offer a deal like this every year.

One Q though - When does the "year" start? When ordered? Or when Installed?
  • CycloniteCyclonite Tampa, Florida Icrontian
    edited June 2003
Purchase date, I believe it said.

//Edit: Quote from the Action Pack License Agreement:

"4. Subscription Term and Termination. The term of this Subscription is one (1) year from the date you purchase the Subscription. It is important that you maintain properly licensed Microsoft products."
