Am I missing a "fix" for my slow computer?

Hey thanks for the great explaination. It's starting to make sense to me now. I deleted Windows Defender as well as the other HighJack stuff (except Maxtor and Palm hotlink), but I'm still committed to getting my wife's work stuff (017's) off this computer. She doesn't use this for work anymore so tomorrow she's asking their computer tech how we should go about getting rid of this stuff permanently.
