I know there must be a simple fix, but I can't find it. In any browser window (IE 6?) I have no background colors visible. Even if I open the control panel it has a stark white bacground. Someone switched something since my laptop screen was dark, but we since found the brightness adjustment : ) I have looked in the internet options and control pannel but have not found the magic button. A little guidance would be most appreciated in fixing this problem, or direction to a link to show me what the default settings were. Windows XP pro.

After searching every forum known to man I found the answer. Least anyone else search forever.........

Go to CONTROL PANEL / ACCESSIBITY OPTIONS, then select the DISPLAY tab. Uncheck the USE HIGH CONTRAST checkbox. All background colors and font stability should return immediately.

    Finally.

I know how you feel - look forever to find the simplest of fix! I spent countless hours on that kind of thing when I upgraded machines from Windows 98 to XP.

Glad you fixed. Sorry no one here was able to help (or missed your thread).
