The bird, weighed down by the deer head, apparently failed to clear the transmission lines, she said. A repair crew found the eagle dead, the deer head nearby.
"You have to live in Alaska to have this kind of outage scenario," said Gayle Wood, an Alaska Electric Light & Power spokeswoman. "This is the story of the overly ambitious eagle who evidently found a deer head in the landfill."
The power was out for less than 45 minutes.

I'm not in Juneau, which is hundreds of miles south of me, but eagles and ravens are frequently in the news here all over Alaska. The Eagle River fire station, which I drive by frequently, is a congregation point for eagles. Once when I was driving by, I had to grab a foot full of brakes. A whole flock, 15 to 20 bald eagles was flying across the road to the fire station. Once or twice a week, someone throws out salmon parts for the birds at the station's parking lot. Also, when the Anchorage hockey team plays, it's a tradition to toss a salmon to the eagles at the fire station when the team scores.
or maybe it's just over my head?
That poor deer
ooo..Lancaster County PA, same as me
Part of our 'Front Page' - main site format is "Shorties", that is news articles in brief on any topic. We're working on it, but apparently we didn't catologue this report correctly.
