Toshiba may just have eliminated Blu-ray's only hope for currently staying alive, by successfully creating a triple-layer HD DVD disc. Depending on the price of these new discs, it may force Sony to lower their price of the more expensive Blu-ray tech, or hasten the release of the 200GB capacity Blu-ray discs.

Not matter how you look at it, another step has been taken in this massive 2 front format war and the winner is far from being decided. Look out for the new 51GB HD DVD discs by the end of this year.

I'm just wondering if a completely new technology will come out (or be surpressed) before these industry yahoos are done bickering!

I am thinking of the old school Laser Disc, but in a high-def format :)

The new HD-LD holds 600GB and supports the new HD format at 7920 x 4320

    Or

They might go small and DVD data will be on small SD cards.
