Packard Bell preps Athlon 64 notebook
It looks like Packard Bell is going to become the first major notebook manufacturer to offer an AMD Athlon 64 based system.
The company's German website says the EasyNote M3308 will contain an Athlon 64 3000+, along with 512MB of DDR SDRAM, a 60GIG hard drive and a DVD-RW to top it all off. The machine will also carry a ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 chip which will power the machines 15.4 inch 1280x800 screen.
[blockquote]The M3308 offers six USB 2.0 ports, a 1394 connector, TV out, PC Card slot, a four-in-one memory card reader (SD, MMC, SmartMedia and Memory Stick), a 56Kbps modem and 10/100Mbps Ethernet for wired connectivity, and an integrated 802.11b card from wireless communications. The whole thing weighs 3.8kg (8.4lb) and the Lithium Ion battery yields a three-hour work time, the company claims.
So far, the M3308 is only available in Germany, for €2399 ($2826). Packard Bell had not responded to our request for UK availability at press time.

But my 500mhz emachine is still going strong!
Ditto. After 18 months of ownership, about the only remaining original equipment was the sound card, and case. Everything except the CPU and 8MB of RAM, and the sound card had been replaced due to failure.
What a colossal piece of junk. And to think, I paid $2000 for it at the time! (At least it included an el cheapo 15" monitor, lousy keyboard, and inept mouse!)
Same here. My grandma has our old one. She only has it so the grandkids can play some games. Has all original equip cept a more RAM and the modem was taken out.
Speakers, mouse, and ... differernt keyboard. Not the original keyboard.
I'm sorry... :sad2:
